10 HOUR WAIT IN KUALA LUMPUR

After my mother booked the incorrect flight, it turned out that I had 10hrs to kill in KL. After doing a lot of research on whether I would be allowed to leave the airport, there I was going through passport control and leaving to explore the city. I had gone from one extreme to another. From dirty, late, packed, slow trains in India to clean, high speed, on time, quiet trains in KL.

The transport system was pretty easy to figure out despite the language and currency being so difficult to work out.

The main thing that I noticed was was that KL is so western. They had TV’s on the train with English and American crap news! Something about Lewis Hamilton starting a music career. No one needs to be informed of that.

I made my way straight to KLCC to check out the Petronas Towers and kill some time in the shopping mall. KLCC shopping mall had shops like Nars, Sephora, Adidas, Benefit, every luxury brand you could think of and many more. And I thought Meadowhall in Sheffield, UK was large. KLCC took me 2 hours to get my head around the map! After a few trial and errors I made it out the correct exit and the Petronas Towers were towering right over me. What an amazing piece of architecture. So stunning to look at against the blue sky.

As I sat down for breakfast in a cafe outside in the 28 degree heat I could see a very large Christmas tree along with Christmas songs playing in the background. I thought I had escaped it!

I had a look around the shops, got myself a brief shoulder massage and grabbed some cheap sushi… I was buzzing… Before it was time to head back to the airport to catch my flight to Krabi.

First impressions of KL were very good. I’ll have to come back for a long weekend!
